Samsung and Google officially announce the Galaxy Nexus

News - By: SPBlast! Staff - October 19, 2011

After a short delay out of respect for Steve Jobs, Samsung and Google finally announced the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. There weren't many surprises as the specs had been previously leaked, but this phone's specs are crazy.

The Galaxy Nexus will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 on a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU. It will have a massive 4.65 inch display that boasts 1280x720 resolution. That's ridiculous for a phone. The camera will be 5-megapixels which is disappointing. The Galaxy Nexus will have 1GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. It will also feature NFC for mobile payments. All of that fits in a 7.1mm thin kevlar case.

The Galaxy Nexus will be a Verizon exclusive, but there's no word on how long that will last. I'm sure it will be available at other carriers in a few months.
