Android ported to Samsung Omnia

Project Andromnia is the porting of Google's Android OS to the Samsung Omnia. The Omnia has been praised as an excellent handset when running WinMo, and now it gets a shot a running Android.

The HTC Magic Android-powered phone has been reviewed by engadget spanish. The Magic is similar to the G1 but it does not include a slideout keyboard.

Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor used Twitter to let the world know that a version of his band's iPhone app is coming to the BlackBerry. No release date is known but Reznor said it's coming "soon." If you're a NIN fan, stay tuned.

We've heard rumors about laptops running Android and now we have proof. Chinese manufacturer Skytone is the first company to get a prototype together. The Alpha 680 runs Android on an ARM11 533Mhz CPU. It has a 7-inch 800×480 display, 128MB of DDR2 RAM (expandable to 256 MB), 1GB SSD drive (expandable to 4 GB), SD card slot, two USB ports, Wi-Fi, 2-cell battery, keyboard and touch pad. Samsung's first Android phone will make its debut in Europe in June, and it looks like a winner. The Samsung I7500 is a quad-band GSM, tri-band 7.2Mbps HSDPA (900/1700/2100MHz) candybar phone that runs Android. It features a 3.2-inch, 320 x 480 pixel AMOLED touchscreen that looks very slick. It looks like Google's Android operating system isn't just for phones. According to the web site Android Guys, Motorola is building a TV set top box for Japanese telephone provider KDDI. The new device will supposedly be ready by October's CEATEC show in Japan.

Mozilla today released a limited beta of its long-awaited Fennec mobile browser (Firefox Mobile). At the moment, only users with Nokia N810s will be able to try the beta as the scope of this release is extremely limited.
Those who want to try the beta without a Nokia N810 can do so on a PC. Fennec was built on Javascript so it will run on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Samsung to release Android phone this year

According to Digitimes, Samsung will be launching an Android handset in Q3 of this year, and that handset will resemble the HTC Magic.
"Based on information leaked from Samsung, the company's first Android handset will be similar to HTC's forthcoming HTC Magic handset in design and hardware specifications, and both models will be built with 3.5G chipset solutions from Qualcomm."
