T-Mobile and Google are issuing a software update for the G1 Android phone. The patch will fix several bugs and add voice searching capabilities to the G1. The update should start rolling out in the next week or so.
Jeff Hamilton, a software engineer on the Android team, announced on Google's Mobile Blog that voice searching and browsing will come with the update.
"You can start searching by voice with just the touch of a button. On the home screen search widget, look for the microphone button right next to the search box and the search button. Press that button, wait for the "Speak now" prompt, and then say your query. You'll soon see search results formatted for the Android browser."
The update will also provide the ability to save attachments from MMS messages and access reminder messages for your calendar.
