HTC Incredible replacing Droid Eris at Verizon?

The rumor on the street is that the HTC Incredible will replace the DROID Eris at Verizon this year. The Eris is apparently scheduled to be discontinued on April 1. BerryScoop has a source that tells them that the HTC Incredible will launch on Verizon around that same time.

Apple's lawsuit against Android already having effects

Apple, Inc. is going after Android more aggressively than previously thought. The process that led to Apple's filing of a patent lawsuit against HTC has taken some time, and has apparently shaken HTC's faith in Google.
According to CNNMoney, Oppenheimer's Yair Reiner issued a behind-the-scenes report about the issue on Tuesday.

Nexus One cracks while charging, HTC makes excuses

An interesting article came out on Crave about their brand new Nexus One's display cracking while charging. They swear the screen was cracked while quietly sitting on top of the desk. They contacted HTC's support and sent it in for HTC to look over. After examining the phone HTC says they can't find anything that would account for the screen cracking while charging.

Microsoft releases their first Android app

That's right, Microsoft has written an app for Google's Android platform. Microsoft Tag Reader allows users to read QR Codes on their Android-powered device.
QR Codes are high capacity barcodes that allow users to link back to specific content. Users can use the cameras on their Android-powered phone to scan the QR Code and be immediately taken to a web page, photo, video, etc.

Google's Nexus One going to Verizon on March 23?

The world has known that Verizon would offer the Nexus One at some point, but it looks like we finally have a date. An anonymous source has pegged March 23, 2010 as the date for Verizon to get the Nexus One:
"The Nexus One, originally released on T-Mobile in January, has passed FCC inspection for use on Verizon's CDMA network and according to a Google worker who wishes to remain anonymous it will be made available on March 23."

Google has made Google Earth available for Android 2.1 phones. The application is in the Android Market and is ready for download. Google says it is "our fastest mobile version of Google Earth yet, with a smooth framerate and a beautiful 800 x 480 screen."

Google has launced Google Shopper for Android phones. The app claims to help you shop smarter. Users point the Android phone's camera at the cover of a book, cd, barcode, etc. and the app does the rest. We've heard so many rumors about a mobile version of Firefox but we haven't seen much progress. We've seen alphas of "Fennec" released for Maemo but nothing solid for any other platform.
BGR reports that Mozilla’s VP of Mobiles, Jay Sullivan, recently said "Mozilla is targeting the end of 2010 as a tentative release date for the Android edition of Firefox Mobile."

Best Buy is jumping into the app arena by launching their very own Best Buy Android App. The app allows users to make purchases from your phone, read product reviews, and search hundreds of products from Best Buy.
The company says the app is in beta as they plan to make more improvements in the future. Plans for the app include a store locator, improved search, add Reward Zone features, more offers.

BlackBerry marketshare shrinks slightly, iPhone's growing, Android still small

comScore has released their latest smartphone market stats from the last quarter of 2009 and it's very interesting. BlackBerry is still dominant with 41.6% of the market, but that's actually down from 42.6%. Apple came in second with 25.3% of the market which is up 1.2%. Microsoft was third with 18%, Palm at 6.1%, and Android had 5.2%. Android was actually up 2.7 percentage points.

Google takes on Facebook with new Buzz service

Google has announced a new service in Gmail that's aimed to take on social sites like Facebook and Twitter. Google Buzz allows you to share photos, videos, etc. with the friends you email. It works right in your Gmail inbox and there's no setup.
