Android versions have been named in alphabetical order, and they have all been some type of dessert. Android started with Cupcake, then Donut, and then we had Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jellybean. The new version of Android was believed to be Key Lime Pie, but a recent announcement has revealed the next Android version name will be Kit Kat.
Because Kit Kat is actually a product name trademarked by Nestle, speculation was that this was some sort of joke. The joke rumors were quickly quashed and the new name is official.
