Andy Rubin, the architect of the world's best selling mobile operating system has stepped down. Just as Google is combining mobile software divisions under one roof Mr. Rubin has decided to move on. Google announced that Sundar Pichai, the executive over the Chrome devision will take over Rubin's responsibilities.
In a letter to the company's Android partners published by The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Rubin says he is an "entrepreneur at heart" and now is the right time to move on. Google CEO Larry Page said it differently.
Has Google decided that Chrome is more important than Android? Are the two operating systems merging into one? Nobody outside of Google knows yet. We do know that the architect of the operating system that sits on 750 million devices is moving on. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

"Having exceeded even the crazy ambitious goals we dreamed of for Android — and with a really strong leadership team in place — Andy's decided it's time to hand over the reins and start a new chapter at Google."
