Rovio, the creators of the very popular Angry Birds, creates a new game focusing on the antagonists in the game Angry Birds. It is not as appealing as the previous title. It does not have the addicting gameplay of catapulting birds into enemy territory but it’s a good game when it comes to logic and skill.
Bad Piggies’ protagonists are the same green pigs which you are trying to knock down in the Angry Birds title. The game still has the same UI. The goal of this game is not to take revenge on those birds but rather to build a vehicle which will propel your pigs through an obstacle course collecting crates and stars along the flight.
Let’s talk about the actual gameplay. At the start of each level, users are given a toolbox of items – wooden boxes, umbrellas, balloons, wheels and more. Using these items, users are instructed to build a vehicle that will take your pigs through all the stars and points-based items in your landscape. You swipe to drag the items into a grid formation to build your vehicle, tap a checkmark, and watch your Rube Goldberg machine set off. Like Angry Birds and Amazing Alex, your goal is to have a perfect 3 stars in each level. If you keep on getting 1 or 2 stars, you can repeat the level as many times you want.
As Bad Piggies has a slower gameplay than catapulting in Angry Birds, more thinking is needed to finish each level. The vehicles built roll through landscapes slowly. To rebuild a vehicle, you need several minutes to finish a level. If you are having a hard time building a good vehicle, you can build it instantly by tapping the Hire a Mechanic button (similar to the Mighty Eagle in Angry Birds). A mechanic builds the contraption for you. Liking the Bad Piggies Facebook page will give you 3 free mechanics but after that, you need to pay for extra mechanics.
Bottomline, it is a good game but its gameplay and enjoyment is below Angry Birds. Angry Birds just need your attention to catapult birds while Bad Piggies need your complete logical thinking to complete each puzzle. For people who want more thinking than action, then Bad Piggies is for you.
Pros: Good interface. Lots of level. A good way to pass time.
Cons: Missing the Angry Birds aura. Could be dull for casual gamers.
