Smartphones outsold PCs in Q4 2010

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 08, 2011

For the first time in history smartphones outsold PCs for the quarter. According to IDC, 100.9 million smartphone devices were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2010, while only 92.1 million PCs were shipped worldwide.

This is big news in the tech industry as PCs have always outsold smartphones in the past. As the trend towards smartphones continues to grow, the gap in these numbers should continue to increase.

Apple has had a big impact on these numbers as the iPhone is quite popular. BlackBerry and Android have also weighed in, and of course Nokia is still on top (for now) worldwide.
