Sprint EVO suffering from screen and sd card issues

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - July 04, 2010

The Sprint EVO is one of the hottest Android phones out right now, but it's suffering from some issues that make using it frustrating. The large screen on the EVO is gorgeous, but unless HTC fixes some of these issues very soon my EVO will be going back to Sprint.

HTC released an OTA update to address a SD card issue where users were reporting weird SD card behavior. Even after installing the update the EVO still has a hard time rescanning the SD card. If you're suffering from this problem you can install a program called SDrescan, but it only helps sometimes. We've actually had to reboot the phone multiple times after adding contact photos or mp3 files to the SD card.

Why is it so hard for the SD card to know what files are new to the card? I've never had so much trouble with adding files to a phone. What a pain.

The other frustration with the EVO is the extreme screen sensitivity. I don't know how many times I've triggered a search just because I grabbed the phone a certain way and a part of my palm happened to graze the search button. My father wants to get one of these EVOs because he likes the big screen but I've advised against it. I think the screen sensitivity will frustrate him and cause him to make unintended phone calls, etc. HTC has said they could fix this issue with a software patch, but we haven't see it yet.

Stay tuned....
