We've heard rumors about laptops running Android and now we have proof. Chinese manufacturer Skytone is the first company to get a prototype together. The Alpha 680 runs Android on an ARM11 533Mhz CPU. It has a 7-inch 800×480 display, 128MB of DDR2 RAM (expandable to 256 MB), 1GB SSD drive (expandable to 4 GB), SD card slot, two USB ports, Wi-Fi, 2-cell battery, keyboard and touch pad. It measures 8.5 x 6 x 1.2 inches and weighs 1.5 lbs.
This device is smaller than a laptop, but larger than a phone so it will fit the niche as a "tween device." The Alpha 680 is expected to launch in Q3 of 2009 for a price of $250.
